Obsidian opens sharp. Aldehydes hit first, that clean, almost metallic crackle, then grapefruit and bergamot cut through it with a bitter citrus edge. It doesn't ease you in. Give it ten minutes and the mood turns. Myrrh brings resin and smoke, jasmine adds a white floral weight, and labdanum lays down something dark and slightly animal.

Then the base settles: vanilla, amber and tonka bean, warm and thick, but not sugary. That's what keeps Obsidian out of the dessert lane.
